Rules to keep everyone happy - hopefully INTRODUCTION I don't like rules. I mean, I'm fine with them, but after RPing for as many years as I have, I hate seeing "Don't godmod", "Don't kill other people's characters without permission", "Don't join and then leave". I'm not going to change your RP habits in a day just by listing that you don't do those things, and I can't make you stay just by jotting it down here. I feel like people should know not to do that.My only real rule is, don't be a jerk to other people. I figure people will RP with you, or not, based on the things you do whether I specify that you should or not. But hey, I have the topic here, so I guess I'll list some things you should know. IN CHARACTER STUFF o1. RESPECT -- ACT FOR YOURSELF!Alright, standard rule. Don't do anything that would undermine what the RPer of a character wants for their character. no GODMODING, no KILLING. But mostly, don't speak/act for another character. Speaking or acting for another character is. Not. Okay. It annoys me. If you're given permission by the RPer to imply they followed or something, fine. If you don't understand what will annoy me, here's an example: o2. EXPLICITY -- WATCH YOURSELF! I believe I'm obligated to say keep things PG-13. And it seems a pointless thing to say, because I'm not going to monitor every topic. But I want you to watch yourself. I don't want you to use explicit language or to be crude about sexual elements of a RP. Be subtle, or, preferably, take it to chatango or somewhere else. I guess I'll never know if it's in a PM message. I just don't want little kiddies seeing it (never mind that you may or may not be RPing with someone underaged). o3. POST COUNT -- THE PARAGRAPH RULE! Post at least a paragraph. "Denver, what is a paragraph?" Five lines is the standard rule. Lines means, when you're posting, you should be able to count five lines. My previous paragraph that begins "If you know your RP is going to" is five lines. Post /at least/ that much. If it becomes a problem I'll insist you type more. This paragraph is also five lines. See how easy it is? For now that's all the in character rules I have. Let's hope I don't need more. OUT OF CHARACTER SPIEL o1. GRAPHICS -- KEEP IT PRETTY! People always say, "Don't stretch my board!" ... Well, don't. Proboards lets admins set it so that images fit the post width, though, so that should correct any problems. Now with signatures? If it makes my board look funny, I'll ask you to change it. If you won't, I'll take it off your signature myself and I'll be grumpy with you. Another note for this is, don't use EXPLICIT content in your graphics. o2. DON'T FIGHT -- BE NICE, NICE TO EACH OTHER! Did I mention I refrain from conflict? I do. So should you. At least, don't start it just because you can. If you can't handle being nice to people, I'll get over my hesitation and handle the situation, 'kay? I can handle confronting someone if you're ruining someone's day. But i'd prefer if we were all just friendly without intervention. o3. LANGUAGE -- NOT TO EXCESS! It's okay if you swear. It's okay if you say something that isn't appropriate. But I do not want to read my shoutbox daily and see you cussing every other word or talking sexually. If what you're saying is making people uncomfortable, I will address it. Be sensible about this. At three AM when it's just you and a few other people online, fine. No one cares what you, or I, do at three AM. but when ten people are online or in the box with you, curb your language, please? | plot rules app claims ratios faqs staff info |
