On the off chance all the rooms in a dorm are occupied by at least one person, you can ask to be placed in the next numbered room (ie: 10, 110, 210, ect). Test subjects are placed in rooms by themselves, but 1a is across from 1b, 2a across the hall from 2b, ect. Test subjects do not need to live at the institute but the option is there for them, especially if they're still being monitored. Scientists do not need to live at the institute. But there are rooms there that they're free to use. The Administration figures if they live there, more work will get done.
