ACIES students are physical- if their power is rooted in their strength, this is where they go. But if your student is more mind over matter, DELEO boasts the most powerful minds in the world, quite literally. Or, maybe you're looking for a more fundamental classification. METORIANS are those who control some aspect of the Earth. Elementals, as it were. Weather manipulators fall under this group whenever they appear. But LAETANS are the school underdog. They've only been in the city of Mercer for about thirty or so years, so almost all of the students are the first in their family to attend Basilius Academie. They're shifters. The first shifters originating from Canada but soon after they began flocking to Mercer from all over the world. The GOVERNMENT is still a bit uncertain about their presence, but everyone tries to keep the peace as much as possible. The GOVERNMENT is comprised of both American and Dutch operatives who are tasked with keeping order and monitoring things in Mercer. From the people, to the state of the weather, they chronicle a lot of information, including factual accounts of violence. CIVILIANS are probably the most skeptical about LAETANS, however. They pass rumors along about the 'beasts' very regularly, most of it untrue. These rumors please the ADMINISTRATION of the Keller Institute who seem to thrive on chaos in Mercer. Let's be clear, this group is not the site staff. My CO-ADMIN and my MODERATORS have their own colors. And if you haven't noticed, my username DENVER is not purple, either. But the ADMINISTRATION keep the SCIENTISTS and TEST SUBJECTS in line to avoid upsetting the GOVERNMENT as much as they can. TEST SUBJECTS are an interesting group. Often, they seem weakened physically, emotionally, and mentally from the experimentation. But they have a wider array of traits. You're free to be creative here. To give a few examples, some have different colored skin, like blue, or red. Others appear to be part animal, boasting features of creatures and their natural abilities. However, it should be clear that while some experiments with animalistic features may potentially be LAETAN students, they are not considered shifters. No experiment can be granted the ability to shift. They have to have the ability prior to becoming an experiment, or they have to arrive at the ability via the means of any other shifter. ie: a bite, a scratch, or another version of lore. That leaves TRAINERS of Basilius Academie. These TRAINERS are hired to supervise the kids just as much as they are there to help them. I could have two different groups, one for proper trainers who teach kids about their powers, and one for teachers, but instead I placed them together. So TRAINERS either help the students physically excel with their abilities, or they train their minds with standardized education. Several do both. TRAINERS can be human opposed to shifers or gifted. If your character or their power doesn't fit nicely into a group, that's okay! We'll make do. Just let me color your name one way or the other, okay? I can change it later if you want. Now what if you're more than one? A scientist who also works at the academy? A Deleo student who was once a subject? To be completely honest, I don't care what you choose as your member group. If you want to classify yourself as a student and not a subject, fine. But if you're looking for guidance, I'm going to suggest you think of it like this: GOVERNMENT > ADMINISTRATION > SCIENTIST > TRAINER > TEST SUBJECT > STUDENT > CIVILIAN Make sense? So if you're a trainer and a scientist, scientist trumps trainer and you'd list yourself as a scientist on your application. But if you're a trainer and a test subject, trainer is higher on the list. If you're a scientist and work in the government, government is the top of the food chain, rather than scientist. But hey, if it's really important to you that your character be considered a trainer, or if his days as a scientist are behind him, or if he spends most of his time as a trainer, feel free to make that call yourself. As far as the universe on the site goes, that's the status quo with the groups. | plot rules app claims ratios faqs staff info |
